I chose Brainpop because I use it so much! I was introduced to this site in my first few years of teaching at the high school level. My students always seemed to enjoy watching the videos and also gained understanding of the topics. Through my years in the teaching profession, I have found out so much more that it can do other than just as a video introduction.
Brainpop is a great resource that can be used with all levels of students. Students enjoy watching the short videos to learn more about topics in their classes. Brainpop has review questions that can be used before or after the video is watched. Teachers can have students work as a whole or by themselves and print out their individual answers. Brainpop has menus that link videos to specific standards for different states and also provides lesson plans, graphic organizers, and interactive smartboard activities for many subjects.
I use brainpop in my classroom at least once a week. I usually incorporate a video when we are starting a new topic, especially for science and social studies. I like to have my students watch a video and answer questions as a group. We generally answer the review questions so we can see why the answer is correct or incorrect. I allow each student to participate by taking turns answering questions. Once we have completed the activity, I will often include lesson plans from brainpop to create worksheets or activities related to the topic. I like using the graded quizzes at the end of my unit as well. Brainpop is great for my students because it is on their level, it has animation, and closed captioning which are all needed in my classroom.
Brainpop can be used as a group or on an individual basis. My students are able to gain access through touch screen or regular computers to the program. It also helps me as a teacher to guide lessons and other activities related to a specific topic. Brainpop teaches vocabulary and allows students to write or draw based on their own level.

LIMITATIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS
Overall Brainpop is a great site, but of course there are always limitations and challenges when it comes to technology. The cost of Brainpop is relatively inexpensive, but could be an issue for a parent or even for a single teacher trying to implement it in their classroom. The main problem that could arise is internet connection, especially in a school setting. Servers go down, and there would be no way to access the site. Also, Brainpop could seem somewhat elementary to some high school students, but would be a great way to get them interested in a new topic because it is basic and easy to understand.
